Get Involved

Becoming a volunteer at the British Somali Community Centre is a great way of actively getting involved in the local community. Volunteers are able to learn new transferable skills for future job prospects while perfecting old ones. Volunteers are the heart of our Centre, they are the passion driven helping hand to help children and women achieve a better quality of life.

What Skills Can You Offer?

The Centre is always looking for volunteers with a great passion in helping the community. Volunteers who have skills or a passion in other skill-sets are wonderful as they can help enrich our services. We love volunteers who have knowledge in a particular area whether practical or theoretical.

What Skills Can You Gain?

Volunteering is a great way to boost your CV and show potential employers you share a passion for things that matter to you. By volunteering with us, you are able gain experience and receive training for areas which you need to learn or improve. This job is very hands on so volunteers are given opportunities to succeed in their roles.

Volunteering Roles

The range of volunteers differs from advisers, therapists and workshop conveners. There are also office jobs which include secretarial roles and admin positions. This is so that volunteers are placed in area they feel they can excel in or are better suited for.

BSC is also more than happy to work with volunteers who want to lead a specific event, classes or workshop.
